Description:

Oslo-Gardermoen Airport (Norwegian: Oslo lufthavn, Gardermoen) is in Gardermoen in Akershus, 47 km north of the city of Oslo. Near the city of Sandefjord there is another airport: Oslo-Torp, Oslo-Gardermoen is, however, the most important and largest airport in Norway. The airport was also on several occasions chosen as the most punctual airport in Europe by the Association of European Airlines. As the hub of the SAS, Oslo-Gardermoen is Norway’s gateway to the world.
By car coming from Jessheim, the airport may be reached on the E6 via the trunk road 174, a four-lane airport access road. The high speed train Flytoget operates as Airport Express between the airport and the city centre, stopping at the main train station and at several metro stations on the way. All intercity and express trains on the route Skien - Oslo - Lillehammer - Trondheim – Oslo airport stop at the airport’s Gardermoen station. For regional bus services there is also a bus station only a few steps from the airport train station. The SAS Airport Bus links airport and Oslo’s main train station, as does the SL-Bus. The airport coach Flybussekspressen goes to Oslo, Bærum, Fredrikstad, Ski and Gjøvik, and regular bus services go to Sarpsborg, Hønefoss and Hamar.
Oslo airport is a destination for international scheduled flight operators as well as for a few low-cost airlines. When the former Oslo airport Fornebu had become too small, Gardermoen was enlarged and now counts to the most modern airports in Europe. Airlines operating flights to and from Oslo Airport include Aeroflot (Moscow-Sheremetyevo), Air France (Paris - Charles de Gaulle), British Airways (London-Heathrow), Finnair (Helsinki, Stockholm-Arlanda), Germanwings (Berlin-Schönefeld, Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg), Lufthansa (Frankfurt, Munich), Norwegian Air Shuttle (Berlin-Schonefeld, Copenhagen, London-Stansted, Madrid, Rome-Ciampino, Saint Petersburg), SAS (Berlin-Tegel, Dublin, Lisbon, London-Heathrow, Milan-Malpensa, Rome-Fiumicino) and SN Brussels Airlines (Brussels).
