Description:
The international airport Newcastle upon Tyne, in the northern county of Tyne and Wear, is located about 11 kilometres northwest of the city centre. According to traffic volume, the airport is one the ten major airports in the country.
Location:
The airport is situated directly on the A 696 towards Ponteland. Motorists should take the A1 to Newcastle and in the north of the city take the exit for the A 696. The airport is then signposted.
Those arriving by train should take service to Newcastle Central Railway Station and then use the metro that leaves approximately every 7 minutes and goes directly to the departure hall at the airport. Alternatively, take the public bus services of the X74 and X78 that leave from Eldon Square only 380 yards from the station.
