George Bush Intercontinental Airport is located 22 miles north of Houston in Texas. The airport was opened in 1969 as Houston Intercontinental Airport and renamed in 1997 after George HW Bush, the 41st president of the United States. Today, Houston-George Bush airport is the largest of the 3 airports near Houston and the second largest airport in Texas after Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
The airport occupies second place among the U.S. Airports, with non-stop scheduled flights and international connections to 221 destinations. It comes behind Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport with 250 destinations. Continental flies to 30 destinations from Houston to Mexico and thus the airport offers more connections to Mexico than any other American airport. There are also flights to all parts of the United States, as well as to Canada, Central and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Terminals B and C as well as the International Arrivals building linked to the terminals D and E, are connected by a train called TerminaLink. All 5 terminals are accessible by metro.
