Brussels-Charleroi Airport (French: Aéroport Charleroi Bruxelles Sud) was opened in 1919 and is in the meantime the second most important air traffic hub in Belgium behind Brussels-Zaventem, which is mainly due to Ryanair, who have had one of their most important bases at the airport since 2001.

The airport is about 4 miles north of Charleroi and about 30 miles south of Brussels.
Passengers arriving by car please take the A7/E19 motorway to the junction with the A54/E420. Take the A54/E420 to exit 24 and then follow the signs to the airport on the N568 Coming from Charleroi also take the E420 to exit 24 and then follow the signs to the airport. The airport may also be reached on the A15/E42 (Liege-Namur) at exit 16.
Rail passengers take trains to Charleroi Sud and then take the bus route A to the airport. There is also a shuttle bus that serves the airport from Brussels Gare de Midi at 60 minute intervals.
