History:
The Thai low-cost airline Nok Air was founded in 2003 in Bangkok by the national carrier Thai Airways. The airline currently concentrates on domestic and regional international destinations. The subsidiary of Thai, after obtaining the license to operate flights, took up air transport of civilian passengers on 23rd July of the following year. The Thai word Nok means "bird" and strangely enough in Persian signifies "beak", which is also the logo of the airline and is painted on all aircraft in the fleet.

Network:
Currently, the low-cost airline flies from its hubs in Bangkok Don Muang and Chiang Mai to 11 different destinations in Thailand, including Krabi, Phuket, Udon Thani and Chiang Rai. The only foreign destinations are currently Pailin in Cambodia and since 31 May 2007, Bangalore airport. The airline is also seeking to obtain take-off and landing rights for other Indian destinations Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi.
