History:
The English airline Monarch Airlines was founded in London on 1st June 1967. In 1971 a Boeing 720B was the first jet to be used and by 1976 the company had switched completely to using jets. A separate scheduled flight service was founded in 1986 under the name of "Monarch Crown Service", which was later renamed "Monarch Scheduled".
The airline now operates two lines of business: its scheduled flights serve numerous airports in Europe, and with its charter services the airline operates flights to many holiday resorts in Europe, North Africa, the Caribbean and the Indian ocean on a seasonal basis.
|
Network:
Monarch Scheduled’s routes include a large number of airports in Spain as well as a few airports in Portugal and in Cyprus. These are served regularly from the English hubs in London, Birmingham and Manchester . Tthe airline also has rights for landing and take-off in Almeria, Gran Canaria, Faro, Gibraltar and Larnaca.
Charter flights leave from the hubs and serve popular holiday resorts such as Heraklion, Dubrovnik, Dalaman, Cancun, Goa and Luxor .
