Fleet :
Frontier Airlines currently owns 49 Airbus A-319 and 11 Airbus-318. Another 10 Airbus A –318 have been ordered to provide an efficient service and will be delivered by the end of 2008. The average age of the entire aircraft fleet is currently 3.5 years.
|
History:
The American low-cost airline Frontier Airlines was originally founded in 1950 in Denver. After a failed takeover in 1986 by the meanwhile bankrupt low-cost airline People Express, the airline formed again and in 1994 began providing low-cost flights under its old name with Boeing 737 aircraft within the United States. At the end of the 1990s the company was one of the first airlines worldwide to change its entire fleet to Airbus aircraft. By means of a well thought out network of routes, which allows most aircraft to return to the hub in Denver in the evenings, the airline has managed to expand in recent years and now also serves destinations outside the United States.
|
Network:
Frontier Airlines’ route network currently includes more than 60 different airports within the United States, 2 in Canada, 8 in Mexico and 1 in Costa Rica. Some of the many destinations in the USA that are served from Denver include Atlanta, Detroit, Indianapolis, Louisville, Orlando, Sacramento, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. Outside the United States, airports include Calgary, Cancun, Guadalajara and San Jose.
