Description: Allegiant Air is an American Airline, owned by Allegiant Travel Co. The carrier was established in 1997 as WestJet Express. After two trademark disputes with WestJet Air Center an WetJet Airlines, the owner adopted the name Allegiant Air in 1998 and the airline was given the go ahead for scheduled and charter operations to Canada, USA and Mexico. The first scheduled service began in 1999 between Las Vegas and Fresno. Allegiant flies to 55 destinations throughout the States focusing on smaller airports not served by larger airlines.
