History:
The airline Air Pacific was founded in 1947 by the Australian aviation pioneer Harold Gatty under the original name Katafaga Estates Limited. Regular operations on the Fiji Islands were only taken up in 1951. In 1971 the airline was renamed to its present name. In 1974 the airline began to extend its field of business and offered international flights to New Zealand. Only a year later, flights to New Caledonia were also added to the itinerary. After a very successful business year and the expansion of air routes in 1983 to Hawaii. In 1985 the Australian airline Qantas participated financially in the company. Since then the scheduled airline also operates flights to the Australian continent.
