Initiating operations with one Stinson single-motor plane, TACA (?Central American Air Transportation?) was founded in 1938 as a cargo company.
Developing a strategic alliance with the flag airlines of Guatemala (AVIATECA), Costa Rica (LACSA), and Nicaragua (NICA), TACA consolidated operations between 1989 and 1995 under the name of GRUPO TACA, thereby transforming the company into one of the most efficient transportation systems in Latin America.
Leading the greatest coordinated purchase in history of Airbus A-319 and A-320 aircraft, TACA initiated a full fleet renovation in 1998.
With two important hubs already in Central America, an equivalent was added in Lima by establishing TACA Peru to service South America, thereby offering passengers an integrated network of routes covering the entire American continent.
